Loneliness
Lately I’ve been noticing that I’m lonely. Loneliness is a little like living in the midst of a beautiful garden where mushrooms pop up here and there — not always to mar the beauty, except for those ugly, grey toadstools that emerge once in a while.
I also find that breezes and gentle winds sing to me. It’s usually early evening when aloneness becomes laced with loneliness. I hear the whispers of tree leaves in the early autumn. The leaves fall and love me. The cottonwoods are Indian rattles shaking their magic. my heart is lifted.
Do you think maybe the breezes are the voices of the dead?
I find that reassuring as I welcome my sister.
